Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

The Beacon Collaborative’s (“Beacon Fellowship Charitable Trust”) ambition is to strengthen the philanthropy ecosystem and work collaboratively to grow philanthropic giving in the UK.

Research

We welcome insights from diverse stakeholders and we are committed to treat every individual equally, regardless of their age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy or maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, or sexual orientation.

We have designed our material to represent thoughts and experiences of individuals from many cultural, religious, ethnic, social and cognitively diverse backgrounds. We work to identify and interview under-represented groups and share their observations and interpretations, and for the representatives to be more prominent within the wider philanthropy ecosystem.

Employment

We are a small team and strive for each member to achieve their full potential in an environment characterised by equality of respect and opportunity, and our working hours are flexible to suit everyone’s needs. If any team member feels they have been discriminated against or harassed due to their work at Beacon Collaborative, they should raise this immediately with the Chair of the Trustees.

Accessibility

Our events

While we take great care to foster diverse and inclusive involvement and representation among our speakers, facilitators and delegates to our events, like other organisations, we could always do more.

We aim to ensure:

  • our event venues are fully accessible venues with step-free access and have accessible toilets throughout, where possible
  • our panels have diverse representatives
  • our flagship Forum is free to attend thanks to the support of our sponsors.

Sexist, racist, homophobic, transphobic or otherwise offensive and inflammatory remarks and behaviour are not acceptable at our events.

Our website and communications

We take care to use language that does not marginalise or silo topics around diversity, equality and inclusion.

We aim to make all our online content accessible and usable by individuals who are visually impaired.

“We hold equality, diversity and inclusion at our core and work to ensure that the principles of respect, honesty, collectivity and openness run through all our activities to encourage more and better giving.”
